Marlowe & Fen started in 2014 with one kettle, one supplier and a spare-room office on Main Street. Eleven years later we run three brands from the same town with a team of twenty-six.
Our story
Slow by choice.
We began as buyers, not marketers. The first products we sold were ones we could not find made well anywhere else — a kettle that did not chip, a leash that survived a decade of washing. Customers wrote back. We reordered. That loop has driven every decision since.
We have never raised outside capital and have no plans to. Growth is funded by the margin our brands earn, which keeps us honest about pricing and slow about launching. When a category does not need another product, we do not make one.
Today the company spans brand development, sourcing, fulfilment and customer care, all under one roof on North Gould Street. Most of our team has been here more than four years, and most of our suppliers longer than that.
Principles
Four rules we do not bend.
Make it last
If a product cannot survive a decade of ordinary use, it does not ship with our name on it.
Price plainly
One fair price, held steady. No invented discounts, no countdown timers, no urgency theatre.
Keep partners
We pay suppliers on time and stay with them. Two of our three workshops have been with us since year two.
Answer the customer
Support is staffed in Sheridan by people who can approve a replacement without asking anyone.
Milestones
Eleven years, three brands.
Founded in Sheridan, Wyoming. First product line sells out in eleven weeks.
Clearspace Co. launches as our first owned brand, with an in-house packaging system.
Pawmate Co. launches pet accessories; first leather workshop partnership signed.
Lumen Co. acquired from its founder and moved onto our fulfilment backbone.
Lumen Co. adds wallets and belts; warehouse doubles in Sheridan.
